Faire quelque chose pour l’amour de l’art

French-Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin is new new man behind the podium at The Philadelphia Orchestra. His passion for his art is apparent. After the performance of Mozart’s Requiem on January 7, he told the audience that he reviews the score until he “loves every note.” Today’s expression, faire quelquechose pour l’amour de l’art (fair kelkuhshoz poor lamoor de lar), means to do something for the love of it. That type of passion will transform the most mundane task into the finest quality.
