Merci mille fois

Merci is a fun and funky concept store at 111 boulevard Beaumarchais on the edge of the Marais neighborhood of Paris. The profits are given to a charity that supports needy children in Madagascar. Many of the suppliers have also agreed to forgo their normal margins.  You never know what you’ll find in this eclectic mix. There is edgy clothing for men, women, and children, house wares galore, jewelry and other accessories, perfumes by Annick Goutal, and creative stationery. When you’re tired from shopping, there is a book-lined café and another small movie-themed restaurant in which to refresh yourself. The food is yummy and moderately priced and the atmosphere is great.

Today’s expression, merci mille fois (maresea meal fwa) means “thanks a thousand times.” Being more effusive than the typically reserved French, we’d say “thanks a million.” I don’t know if Merci has helped a million children yet, but they’re on their way with your help.

      Did you get something great?
I love how they change the Fiat’s “accessories” to reflect what’s going on in the store.
