Concours d’élégance

The weekend of June 23 and 24, 2012 is the date for the second Anjou Vélo Vintage event. Starting in Saumur, in the Loire Valley, this weekend-long event features antique bikes, retro outfits, food and wine tasting, and fun with fellow cycling enthusiasts. A vintage village in the center of Saumur will have stalls with period furniture, flea market finds, swing music, traditional accordion music, as well as exhibits of vintage bikes. There will be a concours d’élégance (konkoor dell-ay-ganse), or fashion show, to award the best vintage outfits. On Saturday, there will be a vintage evening at the Gratien & Meyer winery in Saumur, established almost 150 years ago, rather vintage itself.  Sound like enormous fun!
