Un Étranger bienveillant

mepThere’s a fun exhibit on at the musée Européen de la photographie (MEP) in Paris until May 25, 2014. For over thirty-five years, English photographer Martin Parr has been photographing  all those little daily moments that show all our little vulnerabilities and idiosyncrasies.

l-expo-de-martin-parr-l-activite-a-faireThis exhibit is the latest in a series in which the Paris Audiovisual Association and then the MEP asked renowned photographers to share their vision of Paris. Other participants have included luminaries such as Henri Cartier-Bresson and Édouard Boubat.

Martin-Parr-ParisThe sixty images shown in the exhibit show Paris and Parisians, fairs and fashion shows, planes and Paris Plage, tourists and trinkets. It’s Paris seen through the eyes of un étranger bienveillant (uhn ay-trahn-zjay be-n-vay-ahn), or a benevolent outsider. If only I were in town, I’d be there for sure.

  • Open Wednesday to Sunday 11am to 8pm
  • Free on Wednesdays after 5pm
  • 5/7 rue de Fourcy 75004
