Un Cale-porte

imageI think that the most unusual thing I brought back from Paris was un cale-porte (uhn kal port), or a doorstop. I spotted it in the window of Bohémia, a very eclectic shop at 5 rue du Pas de la Mule, right around the corner from the Place des Vosges. The owner, Martinez Robin, said that le cale-porte was handmade in Turkey. I was worried about the weight of bringing it back with me, but the doorstop had an inner bag to fill with sand, beans or whatever once I got home. I really like its exotic look. It sure beats the wooden wedge that was there before!
